“If not now, when?”

This question kept bothering Shyama as she was having frequent thoughts about how will she ever be able to lose all the weight that she had gained over the years. Shyama’s weight was quite on the higher side. She started Keto Diet for PCOS with us and changed her life for good!

HER JOURNEY

Shyama hails from Kolkata. She leads a lightly active lifestyle for a very long time but because of the nature of her work, she eventually started to have a physically inactive lifestyle, the only activity she did in a day was a light 20 minutes walk, and eventually, she started gaining weight.

Being physically inactivity may contribute to anxiety and depression and has shown to be a risk factor for certain cardiovascular diseases.

HER MEDICAL BACKGROUND

Apart from this, Shyama also has PCOS. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that affects a woman’s hormone levels. Women with PCOS produce higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones.

This hormone imbalance causes them to skip menstrual periods and also causes hair growth on the face and body. It is the most common endocrine disorder that affects women of reproductive age and links with obesity, hyperinsulinemia, and insulin resistance.

The researches suggest that insulin resistance and obesity are behind the pathophysiology of the cause of PCOS. Keto Diet also helps lowering down androgen levels in the body and reducing Facial Hair and Breakouts on the skin as well.

Additionally, it encourages healthy metabolism by burning off excess fat. Without going into too much detail, a ketogenic diet simply enables the body to function at a much more efficient level and this may allow for a more balanced production of thyroid hormones.
